* 2 NC sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed (about 3 c.)
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 1 clove garlic
* 1/2 tsp. salt
* 1/4 tsp. chili powder
* 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
* 1/8 tsp. pepper
* 2 cans (14 1/2 oz. each) chicken broth
* 1 1/3 c. milk
* 1/4 c. refrigerated salsa
* green onion sprigs
1. In 2-quart saucepan, combine first eight ingredients. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer 10 min. or until sweet potatoes are tender.
2. Puree in blender or food processor until smooth. Return to saucepan; add milk and heat through.
* Serve garnished with salsa and green onion.
Makes 5 1/2 cups; Yields 4 - 6 servings
