Easy Country Coleslaw

1/2 head shredded green cabbage |
1/4 head shredded purple cabbage |
2 large shredded carrots |
2 Tbsp. onion, minced |
1/4 c. granulated sugar |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1/4 tsp. black pepper |
1/2 tsp. celery seed |
1/4 c. milk |
1/2 c. canola mayonnaise |
1/4 c. buttermilk |
1-1/2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar |
2-1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice |
Directions:
1. Combine cabbage, carrots and onion in a large bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, salt, pepper, celery seed, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice; mix until smooth. Pour mixture over the coleslaw; stir well and chill for 1 hour.
Tip: Buttermilk substitute - In a bowl, mix together 1/2 c. milk and 1/2 Tbsp. white vinegar or lemon juice and let stand for 10 min.
